It is done! After a couple of years of working we finally finished the new CD! Now we four are heading forward, which is why we gave the CD the title "Fourward". The official release is planned in september when you arrived well back from your holidays. But don't be afraid, we won't let you wait any longer! You can order the CD right now in our CD shop. Before that, you can sneak into every single track of the CD at our hear page. Well - or is it probably not EVERY track...? We are convinced the the time and the work were worth the result and we are very proud on our baby. The CD is a appropriate follower on our first CD, and we hope htat we could bannish the power and energy of What4's live performances on the CD. 2004/06/01 Endorsement deal for Martin: Martin has concluded an endorsement agreement with one the noblest bass guitar manufacuters: Ritter Basses! See what he writes himself: "This year at the Musikmesse Frankfurt I was walking through the crowded exhibition halls when I suddenly found myself in front of the booth of a very noble bass manufacture - Ritter Basses! I fell in lôve instantly! Not in Jens Ritter, the creator of these wonderful instruments, but in his works! After a small check and an even longer conversation I recognized that these were the basses I was searching for a long time! Very esthetic, tonally very flexible and made with big love for details. Now after visiting the Ritter workhops, Jens Ritter and me decided to collaborate, and for the future I will act as an endorser for Ritter Basses. Sadly I can not present the new masterpiece yet, because every single instrument is handworked, and my new bass is still to be built. But I will observe the building and document the stages here on my homepage. Presumably from May to July I will present those pictures there! You get all information about release date, release party and everything else as soon as we know it. 2004/04/21 Sponsor wanted: We are asking you - once again - for your help: We are now almost ready to duplicate and publish our new CD. Since you have waited for such a long time, we want to offer you the CD not in a boring plastic case, but in a high-value digipack which we have desgined together with our graphic designer. Unfortunately those digipacks are a little more expensive, which is why we got the idea to look for sponsors who will supoort us with the costs and whose logo we will put on the CD. Since we want to go over the regional bordes with this CD, we think that this ia also a good possibility for our sponsors to promote their names. Last weekend the guys from What4 were in Munich at the Münchner Wolkernet Studio of bassist Martin Motnik to mix the new CD after almost 3 1/2 years of production. Everyone who knows us knows why it took so long. Everyone who donesn't know it might get it narrated by us if desired... Now it is only necessary to master and to press the CD so that we can count on publishing the CD in a few weeks. The exact date will be published in time here. At the see page you can find some pictures from the mixing weekend. Furthermore we have added some pictures from the Emergenza Festival at the Schwimmbad Musik Club Heidelberg. Thanks a lot and many greetings - much too rarely by the way - to Sabine! It's great to have fans like you! 2004/03/07 Many people asked us why we don't offer black shirts in our merchandising store. The fact was that our dealer hasn't offered black shirts in his collection. But now here they are: the official What4 fan shirts in classical and noble black. Let's go there and buy ahead! The next summer is yet to come! We recommend: the black ladys' top! Very tight and very sexy! ;-) 2004/03/06 Thanks a lot and many greetings to everybody who were at the Emergenza festival last thursday! You were a great audience and it was really big fun to play for you! If you think that 25 min. were too short, you are heartly invited to come to the Schwimmbad Club once again on Fraiday, April 16th, where we will play together with EVAsSOHN and in full length! 2004/02/24 Happy Birthday! It's our Michaels' birthday today! An important call to our fans: as we already announced in the last news, our participation at the Emergenza Festival, the world largest band competition, is certain now! The Emergenza Festival is a competition, whrer the audience decides on the winner, therefore it depends very much on your support. Seven bands will compete at the regional first round; the audience decides on who is getting ahead into the next round. Therefore our request: Everybody please come on thursday march, 4th 2004 8:00 p.m. to the Schwimmbad music club, Heidelberg and give us your vote!!! Each vote counts!!! A few information about the Emergenza Festival: "Emergenza offers European-wide the largest platform for newcomer bands. Entitled to take part groups are each ability stage, which can present both own repertoire and - with restrictions - cover songs. Emergenza takes playce in the most important European music centers as well as unites instead of; a musical marathon race on the most important stages of the international scene. From January to June those bands meet one another as within a tournament: In several rounds the audience decides after the end of each appearance on getting ahead the volume. The winners of the European final receive the possibility of participating one of Emergenza organized European route or USA Showcase." Find more details about the Emergenza festival here. We hope you understand it though it is in German. Regioactive.de is a great site, and so we added it to our small but exquisit link page. By the way, we totally forgot to ask somebody to take some pictures from our gig at the Soho Club. If one of you took some pictures, we'd be very glad if you would mail them to us! Many people asked us about merchandising items of What4. Now we finally found a supplier to produce some nice things with the What4-logo on it! We don't want to ride on anybodies nerves... ;-)) By the way, you all know by now that on Saturday, November, 8th What4 will play at the Rock im Quadrat festival at the Capitol Mannheim, don't you??? And tat we will perform at 10:00 p.m. What? Didn't know it? Well, good that we talked about it! 2003/10/21 The organizer of the Rock im Quadrat-festival could win the trendhouse engelhorn as a sponsor! And they've been telling themselves: "Good music attracts people, but we want to make the musicians more attractive! Let's make an end to bad dressed musicians, who invest all their money into expensive instruments instead of buying real cool outfits... The trendhouse dresses music! Young, upcoming bands from Mannheim and around are put into proper outfits! So you get something for your ears AND eyes!" And last Saturday, What4 was on time at 10:00 a.m. at the trendhouse to get some real cool dresses! Over two hours we've been occupying the changing cubicles, fitting different outfits and getting on the nerves of the employees! A very big thank you to the trendhouse for this great offer and to André Montag who was consulting us with very good taste and very much patience! To give you a little foretaste of our TV performance on November, 4th 2003 at German TV station RNF Life, we have added our very first TV performance as a video stream on the see side! True fans can surely remember January, 26th 2000, when we were already performing All of my life at RNF Life. Here you can see this performance once again! Furthermore Ralf was invited to the radio station Bermudafunk Mannheim in the show "Das Buch" ("The book"), where he was presenting some of his favorite books and certainly some What4 songs were played. You can listen to the show on the hear page. Unfortunately the whole show is in German language - we hope you don't mind! 2003/10/13 A big hello and thank you to all who've been at our gig last Saturday! We hope that you enjoyed the time as much as we did, and you have been a great audience! Thanks a lot for that! Hopefully we can show some pictures of this gig during the next days. The live show (!!!) will start at 6:00 p.m. 2003/10/09 After a hard night of programming and tuning on our guestbook, we are now proud to say that the guestbook holds all the elder entries again and shines now in new glance! All right, let's go there and enter something! It's worth it! 2003/10/08 Slightly the days are getting colder and shorter, and nobody likes leaving the house pretty much anymore. But we don't want you to be sitting at home bored, so we extended our website! Instead of the menu "see&hear" we divided this into "hear" and "see". You might say "Wow!", and you are right! If you click on "hear", you will get What4s music from their CDs and pretty soon also some live recordings. But if you click on "see", you get access to the whole photo album of What4 and also to some videos. Much stuff to explore and to wipe away the long time until spring! promised, here are some news on our web site. 2003/09/29 Lots of people criticized our guestbook because of those nerving popups! First of all sorry for that! We found now a new guestbook provider which is free of popups. Unfortunately we couldn't transfer the old entries to the new guestbook, which means that it is totally empty :-( ! So please sign our guestbook! Every entry is important! Click here! Furthermore we've been asked, why none of the old photos or info are on our web site anymore. Within the relaunch of our web site, we haven't had the time yet to put on those info on our site. But we will add those things on the site pretty soon. One more reason to visit this site from time to time ;-) ! Oh yeah, we have a new gig date. On Tuesday, October, 28th 2003 we will play an unplugged gig as promotion for the Rock im Quadrat festival in the cafeteria of the University of Mannheim. Hi there! Sorry that it took so long to bring out some news, but we've got some good ones! Our promotion-CD is finished, and we just started to promote the songs! The title of the CD is "4 songs 4 promotion". Send us an email if you want a copy! Furthermore we will start playing live again! The first date is 23. May 2003, 21:30 at the Schwimmbad Music Club in Heidelberg! We hope that all of you come to the show! We'd be very glad to see you again, so we can show you: What4 is back! 2002/11/27 Hello everybody! Welcome to our new official homepage! We hope you like the new style. First of all many many thanks for your patience while we were recording our new songs. We know, it took a lot longer than we planned, but we're sure that the result is more than satisfying! The guys have really played great, and Frank has - certainly - done a fantastic job at the mixing desk again. We finally recorded 13 (!) songs. Check out some samples on the see&hear-page. Though we are all very happy about our work, we know that there is still a lot of work to do. So just in case that we miss to talk to some of you, we wish you a merry Christmas and a fantastic new year! Stay happy and healthy, and we wish that we will come together again pretty soon in 2003!
